The purpose of the Sales manager/business analyst is
- To support the Commercial Manager in the development and implementation of the business plan.
- To sustain strong customer relationships at multiple levels in the customer’s organization.
- To work closely with the other relevant Shell Commercial teams to ensure the businesses customer strategies are aligned.
- To interface well with the customer service team in support of effective, efficient commercial operations.
- To serve as the business analyst in support of the other Sales Managers and Commercial personnel.
- To manage the trading channel to the spot market.
Key Accountability:
- Achieve business targets: volume, margin, and credit. This requires continuous monitoring/enforcing contract terms and conditions.
- Accountable for monthly price negotiations at several accounts.
- Prospect new business opportunities that support the long-range growth targets of the PL.
- Manages a balance between customer advocacy and business needs.
- Responsible for coordination of appropriate interface between Shell’s business, supply chain, logistics and customer service teams on behalf of the customer.
- Responsible for individual budget for travel and entertainment.
- Accountable for developing negotiation pro-forma (template detailing offer strategy) for all contractual term offers and significant amendments, loading into Omnicom (online database).
- Accountable for using Omnicom for work process during contract approval process.
- Responsible for use of Shell Chemical standard terms and conditions in new contracts.
- Achieve Receivables Contractual DSO (receivables days outstanding at month end) in support of Americas PL target.
- Responsible for the planning, coordination and achievement of customer visits and entertainment activities for the year with targeted accounts, utilizing senior PL leadership to build stronger customer relationships.
- Responsible for developing account plans and delivering results based on those account plans.
- Responsible for documenting trips and important phone conversations into CMM customer database.
- Participant and contributor in relevant strategy work sessions.
- Displays leadership with respect to overall PL sales team activities.
- Deliver analytical decision support, and market data necessary for business planning and customer engagement.
- Manage the trading channel to market, particularly in support of maximizing margin for spot sales.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years experience in commodity and/or specialty chemical sales.
- Strong technical component to sales is preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 50% is required.
- Demonstrated ability in the sales planning and execution.
- Prior sales experience in Phenol/Acetone and Nonene preferred.
- Competence in the Spanish Language is a preferred.
- Demonstrated results in highly competitive markets, with an orientation to speed in execution.
- Must be self-motivated, work well in a global team environment, and have strong interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in Spanish preferred.
