UNIDO Jobs in Abuja 3positions

The UNIDO Regional Centre for Small Hydro Power in Africa, (UNIDO – RC – SHP), seeks to engage suitably qualified and experienced Engineers as Technical Officers for immediate employment in the following positions:

1.   ELECTRICAL / MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Shall be responsible for the design and selection of appropriate type and capacity of turbines and pumps for Small Hydro-power schemes.
Shall be responsible for the design and simulation of electron-mechanical devices and power production.
Shall work hand-in-hand with the Hydrologist, Civil-Hydraulics Structures Engineer and Project Manager
Shall carry out other duties assigned to him/her by the Technical Director/CEO or assigned supervising officer.
Shall be responsible for the sizing and selection of appropriate generators, transformers, power-house and auxiliary mechanical systems.
Shall be responsible for the design and selection of automatic control systems for small hydro power plants
Shall be responsible for the design and selection of governors and all electro-mechanical devices for small hydro power plants.   A higher degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineer, but must have first degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
A Masters degree with at least seven (7) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Or a Ph.D. with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Must be a registered Engineer - in Nigeria NSE and COREN and any other professional bodies.

2.   HYDRAULICS/CIVIL STRUCTURES ENGINEER   
To determine Dam characteristics, Dam types and Designs, with respect to Small Hydropower Development
Shall be responsible for Power house Design
Shall carry out environmental structures design
Shall work hand-in-hand with the Hydrologist, Electro-mechanical Engineer and the Project Manager
Shall carry out other duties assigned to him/her by the Technical Director/CEO or assigned supervising officer.  
Shall carry out detailed dam and appurtenant structures design including hydro-mechanical steel structures.
Shall carry out detailed Hydraulic Designs.
Shall be responsible for simulation of hydraulic structures and power production
 A higher degree in
(a) Civil-Hydraulic Structures
(b) Any other relevant discipline experience.
A Masters degree with at least seven (7) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Or a Ph.D. with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Must be a registered Engineer -  in Nigeria NSE and COREN and any other professional bodies.

3.   HYDROLOGIST   
Shall be responsible for the analysis of monthly and annual inflows to dams, reservoirs, catchment areas, rivers and other flowing water bodies
Shall be responsible for the accurate determination of Flow Duration Curves, Power Duration Curves and estimation of Power potentials for Small Hydro Power designs.
Shall be responsible for all hydrological studies and simulations in relation to power production
Shall be responsible for determining outflows from all flow-release structures
Shall work hand-in-hand with the Civil, Hydraulic Structures Engineer, the Electro-mechanical Engineer and the Project Manager
Shall carry out other duties assigned to him/her by the Technical Director/CEO or assigned supervising officer.   A higher degree in:
(a) Civil-Hydrology
(b) Agricultural Engineering/Soil & Water Engineering, with specialization in hydrology
(c) Water Resources with specialization in Hydrology
A Masters degree with at least seven (7) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Or a Ph.D. with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience in a reputable and relevant establishment.
Must be a registered Engineer - NSE and COREN and any other professional bodies

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS
Applicants must hold First Degrees with a minimum of 2nd Class Upper Division
Applicants must hold an Msc. degree
Applicants must be COREN-registered and registered with relevant professional bodies.
Applicants should be member of Nigerian Society of Engineers
Applicants must not be more than 45 years of age
Applicants must have relevant and verifiable years of previous work experience
