Position Requirements: POSITION SUMMARY
The registered supervisor is responsible for organizing, planning, managing and supervising the day-to-day operations of the health information management department and performs regular medical records duties as a working Supervisor including: coding, abstracting, analyzing, file management, release of information, performance improvement, compliance and management of the medical record.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Must possess an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management. Must be registered with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and must meet its requirements for continuing education.
Two (2) years' supervisory experience in a hospital Health Information Management Department.
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Medical Record Science. Knowledge in the methods involved in collecting and analyzing medical record data. Knowledge in medical terminology, indexes and classification systems and medicolegal ethics. Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local regulations concerning medical records OSHPD data, and reports vital statistics and diseases. Knowledge of the uses and limitations of medical records. Ability to develop plans and procedures to improve the maintenance and contents of medical records. Knowledge of management principles.
